I've lived in many places since leaving Ecuador, primarily in the western United States. I finally settled in Athens, Texas, a small town in East Texas. I did not keep up with my photography, other than as an occasional hobby. While working for a metal building company in Athens, I found out that we were in the process of producing a new brochure. I went to the president of the company and told him that they would need good photos of our buildings and told him that I could do that for them if they got me a camera. He told me to research cameras. It was toward the beginning of digital cameras and I settled on a Canon digital Rebel. I went out with our salesmen and took photos of our buildings, reigniting my love for photography. The PR firm that was producing the brochure ended up using all of my photos. I then became part of the advertising team for our company, concentrating on photography. I used the internet to learn everything I could about digital photography and post processing. 

In 2015, my  daughter, Jenny, called me and asked me to watch a documentary called Mile, Mile and a Half, about a group of friends, photographers, who hiked the John Muir Trail together, filming the whole trip. I called her after watching it and she asked me how I liked it. I told her I loved it and she said, "I want to do that with you Dad!" How do you say no to that? Now the JMT is a 250 mile hike that runs from Yosemite Valley to Mt Whitney in the Sierra Nevada. I had never done anything like it and I was turning 60 that year but told her let's do it. We decided to do it in phases and started in September of 2016, finishing in 2022. My extreme love for the mountains was reborn!! I took my camera with me and that started my new journey into the world of Landscape Photography.
